If The Giver is a commentary on our world in 2007, what is Lois Lowry trying to say to his readers (what type of / is he sending?)

i think hes trying to say that no matter how hard you try you cant make the world perfect
becasue every bad thing you take out of it a good thing goes out to
for example
sunburn-the suns warmth
breaking your leg-what ever exciting thing you were doing before

if you take all of these things out of the world you wont ever have the expirience tha you need to get through life
its important to experiance things because if you dont you wont mature from them

    That we learn from suffering. It’s a part of our lives for a reason. Look at the characters. They strike me as child-like. Marriage has nothing to do with love; normal sexual urges are suppressed from the moment they begin; they can share their innermost thoughts because they’re so shallow. Geez, they don’t even know the pain of a bad cut. If you haven’t experience physical or emotional pain, how much joy can you have in life? At best, the people in that society are complacent and not unsatisfied.
